About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead their mineral processing division in Klerksdorp . This pivotal role involves optimizing existing metallurgical processes and developing innovative solutions to enhance recovery rates and product quality for various minerals. You will be responsible for process control, troubleshooting operational challenges, and guiding research and development initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned metallurgist to make a substantial impact on operational performance and contribute to the strategic direction of a prominent mining operation in the North West province, working closely with plant operations and technical teams.
- Oversee and optimize all aspects of the mineral processing plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching circuits.
- Conduct detailed metallurgical test work and analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Develop and implement robust process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality and maximize recovery.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Mentor and guide junior metallurgists and plant operators, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaborate with research and development teams on new process technologies and pilot plant trials.
- MSc or MEng in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in metallurgical processing, with a strong focus on mineral processing techniques for gold, platinum group metals, or base metals.
- Proven track record in process optimization, troubleshooting, and metallurgical test work .
- Expertise in plant operations, process simulation software, and statistical analysis.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a plant environment and manage cross-functional teams.
