Senior Solar PV Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Solar PV Engineer to join their growing team in Benoni . This role is critical for the design, development, and implementation of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. You will lead technical aspects from site assessment through to commissioning, ensuring optimal system performance, efficiency, and compliance with South African energy standards. • Lead the detailed design and engineering of utility-scale and commercial solar PV systems, including system sizing , component selection, and layout optimization.
• Perform technical site assessments, energy yield estimations, and feasibility studies.
• Develop and review engineering drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar PV plants, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project execution and operation.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in solar PV technology , regulations, and industry trends.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design and engineering of solar PV systems .
• In-depth knowledge of PV components (modules, inverters, mounting structures), performance monitoring, and energy storage solutions.
• Proficiency in PV design software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope) and AutoCAD.
• Understanding of South African electrical standards, grid codes, and regulatory requirements for PV installations.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
