About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer with a focus on Chemical Energy to join their innovative team in Klerksdorp . This role is crucial for optimizing and developing chemical processes related to energy production and storage. You will be responsible for process design, troubleshooting, scale-up, and ensuring the efficiency and safety of operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering principles applied to the energy sector, driving advancements in areas like biofuels, hydrogen production, or advanced battery technologies, contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for energy generation, storage, and conversion.
- Conduct process simulations, P&t, and equipment specification for new installations and modifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to chemical processes, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.
- Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety measures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and engineering teams to scale up laboratory processes to industrial production.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for chemical processes and implement improvements to enhance yield and reduce costs in chemical energy applications .
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering, with a significant focus on chemical energy systems or related industries.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
- Experience with safety management systems and HAZOP studies is essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment in Klerksdorp .
