Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic product manufacturing company based in Benoni , seeks a creative and analytical Mechanical Design Engineer to join their product development team. This role involves the end-to-end design and engineering of new consumer and industrial products, from initial concept through to production readiness. You will contribute to innovative designs that meet market demands for performance, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness.

• Lead the mechanical design process for new product development, from concept generation to detailed design.
• Utilize 3D CAD software to create intricate designs, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct FEA and CFD analysis to optimize product performance, durability, and thermal management.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Develop prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and iterate on designs based on test results and feedback.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for production.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Expertise in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion 360) and FEA/CFD tools .
• Solid understanding of materials science, plastics, and manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping).
• Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
