Process Development Scientist - Chemical Engineering

Our client is looking for an experienced Process Development Scientist with a strong background in chemical engineering to join their facility in Vereeniging . This critical role involves optimizing and scaling up chemical processes for manufacturing. You will work closely with production teams and R&D to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations. This is a hands-on position that offers the chance to make a significant impact on the company's production capabilities and product quality.

• Develop, optimize, and scale up chemical manufacturing processes from laboratory to pilot and full production scales.
• Conduct process hazard analyses and implement safety protocols to ensure safe operations.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Design and execute experiments to improve process yield, efficiency, and product purity.
• Collaborate with engineers and chemists to design and commission new process equipment.

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in process development and scale-up within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) is advantageous.
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a plus.
