About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Network Designer to join their engineering team in Klerksdorp . This role is critical in planning and designing the next generation of fiber optic networks that will expand connectivity and enhance telecommunications services across the region. You will be responsible for creating detailed design plans, ensuring network efficiency, scalability, and adherence to industry standards.
This position requires a meticulous approach to design and a thorough understanding of fiber optic technologies and deployment methodologies.
- Design and develop detailed fiber optic network layouts, including route planning, conduit placement, and fiber splicing strategies.
- Utilize CAD software and GIS tools to create accurate network maps and design documentation.
- Conduct site surveys to assess feasibility and identify potential challenges for network deployment.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, local regulations, and company best practices.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other engineers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Estimate material and labor costs associated with fiber optic network projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic network design.
- Proficiency in using design software such as AutoCAD, GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS), and specialized fiber design software.
- Solid understanding of fiber optic principles, components, and installation techniques.
- Experience with network planning, OSP (Outside Plant) design, and ISP (Inside Plant) considerations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
