About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Metallurgist to join their processing plant operations near Vereeniging . This hybrid role focuses on optimizing mineral processing techniques to maximize metal recovery and product quality. You will be responsible for overseeing plant operations, conducting metallurgical test work, and troubleshooting process issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background in mineral processing combined with practical experience in a production environment, contributing to efficient and sustainable operations within the metals and mining industry .
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of mineral processing circuits, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching.
- Conduct metallurgical test work to evaluate new process technologies and optimize existing ones.
- Analyze process data, identify trends, and implement solutions to improve recovery, grade, and throughput.
- Develop and maintain process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
- Collaborate with engineers and plant operators to troubleshoot operational problems and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations within the processing plant.
- Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
- Proven experience with various processing techniques such as flotation, gravity separation, and hydrometallurgy.
- Proficiency in metallurgical accounting and process simulation software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing on-site responsibilities with remote data analysis and reporting.
