About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Geothermal Energy Engineer to contribute to their innovative projects in the Klerksdorp area. This hybrid role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of geothermal power plants and systems. You will apply your expertise in geology, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics to harness the Earth's natural heat for energy production. Working closely with exploration teams and plant operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, sustainability, and economic viability of geothermal energy initiatives, bridging the gap between remote technical analysis and on-site project implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Design and engineer geothermal power plant systems, including drilling, well completion, and surface facilities.
- Analyze geological and reservoir data to assess the viability and potential of geothermal resources.
- Optimize plant operations for maximum energy output and efficiency, minimizing environmental impact.
- Develop and implement monitoring programs for geothermal reservoirs and production wells.
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and other engineers on resource exploration and development.
- Ensure all designs and operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards for geothermal energy.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Geothermal Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the geothermal energy sector or related fields like oil and gas reservoir engineering.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and reservoir engineering principles.
- Experience with geothermal drilling, well design, and production operations.
- Proficiency in relevant simulation and modeling software.
