About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Hydropower Engineer to join their engineering team based in Nelspruit . This role is crucial for the design, development, and operational support of hydropower projects, contributing significantly to the renewable energy portfolio. You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and conceptual design to detailed engineering, construction support, and operational assessments.

• Lead the technical design and engineering of hydropower facilities, including dams, spillways, tunnels, and powerhouses.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and resource assessments for potential hydropower development.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for civil, mechanical, and electrical components.
• Oversee the procurement and installation of turbine and generator equipment, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical expertise during the construction phase, including site supervision and problem-solving.
• Collaborate with environmental consultants, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project compliance and sustainability.

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a specialization in hydropower.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the design and execution of hydropower projects .
• Proven expertise in hydraulic structures, turbine technology, and power generation systems for hydroelectric plants.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering design software and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of environmental impact assessments and regulatory processes for energy projects.
