Facilities Engineer - Upstream Operations

Our client is seeking a dedicated Facilities Engineer to join their upstream operations team in Nelspruit . This role focuses on ensuring the integrity, reliability, and optimal performance of oil and gas production facilities. You will be involved in the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of surface facilities, including separation units, processing equipment, and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with production engineers, maintenance teams, and project managers to support safe and efficient operations.

This is a key on‑site role requiring hands‑on involvement and problem‑solving.

• Oversee the design, construction, and modification of upstream production facilities.
• Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance strategies for process equipment.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions to improve facility performance and uptime.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to facility operations.
• Manage facility integrity programs, including corrosion monitoring and inspection planning.
• Provide technical support for operational readiness and start‑up activities.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering within the oil and gas upstream sector.
• Strong knowledge of process equipment, such as separators, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
• Experience with P&IDs, equipment specifications, and mechanical integrity programs.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
