About the Role
Our client is seeking an expert Senior Reservoir Simulation Specialist to join their technical team in Nelspruit . This role is central to our efforts in understanding and optimizing the performance of our hydrocarbon assets through advanced numerical simulation. You will be responsible for building, calibrating, and running complex reservoir models, analyzing simulation results, and providing strategic insights for field development and production planning.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical background combined with extensive practical experience in state-of-the‑art reservoir simulation techniques, contributing to our operational success in Mpumalanga .
- Develop, calibrate, and validate dynamic reservoir simulation models using industry-standard software.
- Execute simulation runs for various scenarios, including production optimization, infill drilling, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategies.
- Analyze simulation results, interpret performance predictions, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to asset teams.
- Perform sensitivity analyses and uncertainty assessments to quantify the impact of geological and engineering parameters.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in reservoir simulation technology and methodologies.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the knowledge base of the reservoir engineering discipline.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing simulation studies and their implications.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of hands‑on experience in reservoir simulation, with a strong focus on complex geological models.
- Expert proficiency in commercial reservoir simulators (e.g., ECLIPSE, CMG, INTERSECT).
- Solid understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluid flow, and numerical methods.
- Experience with data integration from various sources, including well logs, core data, and seismic information.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively.
