About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Telecoms Engineer specializing in Fibre Optics to join their team in Nelspruit . This hybrid position involves the design, implementation, and oversight of advanced fibre optic network projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of our optical infrastructure, supporting high-speed data transmission critical to our telecoms operations. This role offers a chance to lead complex projects and contribute to the expansion of our network footprint.
Key Responsibilities- Design and plan fibre optic network deployments, including route selection, splicing plans, and equipment specifications.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of fibre optic cables, terminals, and associated equipment.
- Conduct network performance testing and troubleshooting for optical transmission systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations for fibre optic network construction.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure successful project delivery within scope and budget.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in fibre optic network engineering within the telecoms sector.
- In-depth knowledge of fibre optic technologies, including FTTx, DWDM, and optical test equipment.
- Proficiency in using CAD software for network design and planning.
- Strong project management skills and experience in leading technical teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, including site visits as required.
