About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Chemical Process Engineer with a specialization in scale-up to join their team in Nelspruit . This role is crucial for translating laboratory innovations into viable, large-scale production processes. You will be responsible for designing, piloting, and optimizing processes to ensure successful transitions from R&D to manufacturing. This is a highly technical position for an engineer with a deep understanding of scale-up principles and a proven ability to overcome the challenges associated with process intensification and industrial application.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the scale-up of chemical processes from laboratory and pilot plants to full commercial production.
- Design, operate, and analyze pilot plant experiments to gather critical scale-up data.
- Develop process designs, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, and operating procedures for new processes.
- Conduct techno-economic assessments for proposed scale-up projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during scale-up and initial production.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful process implementation.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
- 5-10 years of experience in process development and scale-up within the chemical industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in scaling up chemical reactions, separations, or formulation processes.
- Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis techniques.
- Strong understanding of mass transfer, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics at different scales.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
