Control Systems Engineer - Energy Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Control Systems Engineer to enhance their operations within the Energy Sector , based in Nelspruit . This role is central to developing, implementing, and optimizing sophisticated control systems that manage energy production, distribution, and consumption efficiently and reliably. You will leverage your expertise in automation, SCADA, and process control to drive performance improvements and ensure system integrity.

• Design, program, test, and commission industrial control systems , including PLCs, DCS, HMI, and SCADA systems for energy applications.
• Develop and maintain control strategies and algorithms to optimize plant performance, energy efficiency, and operational safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to control hardware, software, and communication networks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and IT, to integrate control systems with other plant infrastructure.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, cybersecurity best practices, and safety regulations within the Energy Sector .
• Provide technical support, training, and documentation for control systems to plant personnel in Nelspruit .

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting industrial control systems , preferably in the Energy Sector .
• Proficiency in programming various PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and SCADA software packages.
• Strong understanding of process automation principles, instrumentation, and network communications (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
• Experience with cybersecurity measures for industrial control systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in Nelspruit .
