About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Chemical Engineer to join their advanced manufacturing facility in Nelspruit . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of automated control systems for chemical processes. You will work closely with process engineers and operations teams to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable plant operation through effective control strategies. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Develop and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies to optimize plant performance.
  • Specify and select control instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, control valves).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to define control requirements and logic.
  • Ensure that all control systems meet safety, reliability, and performance standards.
Requirements
  • BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a strong process focus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial process control and automation.
  • Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell).
  • Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and control theory.
  • Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) is a plus.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
