About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their growing operations near Nelspruit . This role is central to developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans to ensure efficient and safe resource extraction. You will work with geological data, survey information, and production targets to create practical and achievable mining schedules. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified engineer to play a vital role in the strategic planning and execution of mining activities within a progressive mining company in the Mpumalanga region.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans for both underground and open-pit operations.
- Integrate geological models, survey data, and production targets into comprehensive mine plans.
- Perform reserve calculations and resource modeling to support strategic mine planning.
- Utilize mine planning software to design mine layouts, schedules, and sequences of operations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for potential new mining areas or modifications.
- Collaborate with operations, geology, and engineering teams to ensure plans are practical, safe, and meet production objectives in Nelspruit .
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design, with a strong focus on practical execution.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or similar.
- Experience in both open-pit and underground mine planning environments is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret geological and survey data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, essential for working within the mining industry in Mpumalanga .
