About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Mining Engineer to manage and optimize underground mining operations in the Benoni area. This role is crucial for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of mineral resources. You will be responsible for developing and executing short-term and long-term mine plans, overseeing drilling and blasting operations, and implementing new technologies to enhance productivity. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of underground mining methodologies and a commitment to operational excellence and safety.
- Develop and implement detailed short-term and long-term mine plans for underground operations.
- Oversee drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities to meet production targets.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to underground mining.
- Manage mine planning software and tools to optimize stope designs and production sequencing.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and mine supervisors.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in underground mining operations.
- Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan) and CAD applications.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a strong commitment to safety and operational efficiency in the Benoni mining sector.
