Senior Chemical Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced and highly competent Senior Chemical Engineer to join their leading industrial facility in Vereeniging . This role is integral to the successful operation and continuous improvement of their chemical production processes. You will provide technical leadership, problem-solving expertise, and mentorship to junior engineers. The position requires a strong understanding of chemical principles, process safety, and project execution within a demanding industrial environment.

You will play a key part in ensuring operational excellence and driving innovation.

• Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on all aspects of chemical process design, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage and execute capital projects, from conceptualization through to commissioning, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Develop and implement strategies for process optimization to improve yield, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations and project success.

• Master's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering .
• 10+ years of progressive experience in chemical process design, operations, and project management.
• Deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering , thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and separation processes.
• Extensive experience with PHA methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and process safety management (PSM).
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects.
