About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to join their operational team in Nelspruit , focusing on power generation facilities. This role is essential for the accurate measurement, monitoring, and control of critical plant processes, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of energy production. You will be responsible for the calibration, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of instrumentation and control systems.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of instrumentation in a demanding industrial setting.
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair instrumentation and control devices (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters).
- Troubleshoot issues with process control loops, sensors, actuators, and control valves.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on instrumentation systems to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and instrument loop diagrams to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Ensure all instrumentation work complies with plant safety standards, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration results, and spare parts inventory.
- National Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with industrial instrumentation and control systems, preferably in a power generation environment.
- Proficiency in calibrating and troubleshooting various types of sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
- Knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and their associated instrumentation.
- Experience with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe circuits is advantageous.
- Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
