Senior Electrical Engineer - Mining

Our client, a major player in the mining sector, is looking for a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical operations and projects at their facilities near Nelspruit . This role is critical for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of all electrical systems and equipment within a demanding mining environment. You will be responsible for managing major electrical projects, implementing advanced maintenance strategies, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety and environmental regulations.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in heavy industrial or mining electrical engineering, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to operational excellence.

• Lead the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems for mining operations, including power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation.
• Develop and implement electrical safety management systems and ensure compliance with mine health and safety regulations.
• Oversee electrical maintenance teams, optimizing preventative and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Manage electrical project life cycles, from scope definition and budgeting to execution and handover.
• Conduct root cause analysis for electrical failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

• B.Eng or
  
  B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in the mining industry or heavy industrial sector.
• Proven experience with high-voltage systems, mining electrical equipment (e.g., crushers, conveyors, ventilation), and associated control systems.
• In-depth knowledge of mine electrical safety regulations and standards.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in electrical design and simulation software.
