About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer specializing in turbo machinery for projects based in and around Nelspruit . This hands-on role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of gas turbines, steam turbines, and related rotating equipment within the energy industry . You will be responsible for on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex machinery, often working under demanding conditions to keep essential power generation assets running smoothly.
This position offers the chance to utilize your technical expertise directly on critical equipment, contributing to reliable energy production.
- Perform installation, commissioning, and start-up of turbo machinery equipment according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and predictive/preventive maintenance activities on turbines and associated rotating equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with turbo machinery.
- Execute repairs, overhauls, and component replacements as needed, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
- Provide technical support and guidance to plant operators and maintenance staff on-site.
- Generate detailed service reports, documenting work performed, findings, and recommendations for future actions.
- Trade qualification or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer with a focus on gas and steam turbines.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
- Knowledge of vibration analysis and other diagnostic techniques for machinery health.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, often at client sites in remote locations.
