About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Chief Metallurgist to lead their metallurgical operations in Klerksdorp . This senior position demands extensive expertise in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy, with a focus on optimizing recovery rates and product quality. You will be responsible for developing and implementing metallurgical strategies, overseeing laboratory operations, and ensuring the efficient processing of extracted minerals. This is a critical role for driving profitability and innovation within the mining sector of the North West province.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, optimize, and manage metallurgical processes for mineral recovery and refining.
- Oversee all aspects of the metallurgical laboratory, including quality control and analytical procedures.
- Conduct metallurgical test work, pilot plant trials, and plant-scale investigations to improve efficiency and recovery.
- Troubleshoot processing issues and implement effective solutions to maintain operational performance.
- Manage and mentor a team of metallurgists and laboratory technicians.
- Ensure compliance with environmental standards and safety regulations related to metallurgical operations.
- Stay abreast of advancements in metallurgical technologies and recommend their adoption.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in metallurgical process development and operations.
- Deep understanding of various mineral processing techniques (e.g., flotation, leaching, smelting).
- Proven experience in statistical analysis, process modeling, and optimization.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Published research or significant contributions to the field of extractive metallurgy are a plus.
