About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer to join their operations within the demanding Mining Sector in Vereeniging . This critical role involves overseeing the electrical infrastructure of mining operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of heavy machinery, processing plants, and underground electrical systems. You will play a key part in maintaining and upgrading electrical systems, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety and environmental regulations specific to the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain electrical systems and equipment in a mining environment, including power distribution, motor control centers, and heavy-duty machinery.
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of underground electrical installations and ventilation systems.
- Plan, execute, and supervise electrical maintenance and upgrade projects.
- Conduct electrical hazard identification and risk assessments, implementing mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for electrical assets.
- Ensure compliance with all mining regulations, safety standards (e.g., Mine Health and Safety Act), and company policies.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical faults and provide timely solutions to minimize operational downtime.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience, with a significant portion in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) with ECSA is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of high and medium voltage systems, mining electrical equipment, and safety procedures.
- Experience with PLC systems and variable speed drives used in mining applications.
- Proven project management skills and ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment.
