About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Engineer to join their engineering team based in Nelspruit . This senior role will lead process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for complex oil and gas projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that process designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with all relevant industry standards and environmental regulations. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, balancing critical on-site operational input with focused office-based design and analysis, making a significant impact on the company's downstream and upstream operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of process designs, P&IDs, and process simulations for new projects and plant modifications.
- Optimize existing plant processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety performance.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies and provide technical guidance.
- Mentor and guide junior process engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and control engineers.
- Ensure compliance with all company standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental best practices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Strong proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and P&t.
- In-depth knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
- Proven leadership abilities and excellent communication skills for a hybrid role.
