Environmental Engineer - Compliance and Assessment

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Engineer to join their team in Nelspruit . This role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, conducting impact assessments, and developing strategies for sustainable development across various industrial and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project teams to mitigate environmental risks and promote best practices. This is an important role for an engineer committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable development within Mpumalanga province.

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial environmental legislation and regulations.
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs.
• Advise on environmental best practices and mitigation strategies for construction and operational activities.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Investigate and report on environmental incidents and develop corrective actions.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (with environmental focus), or a related science.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or compliance.
• Professional registration (e.g., EAPASA) is highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of South African environmental legislation (NEMA, MPRDA, etc.).
• Experience with environmental modeling and monitoring techniques.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
