About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead process optimization initiatives for their mineral processing plant in Benoni . This role is vital for improving recovery rates, increasing throughput, and reducing operational costs within the plant. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex processing issues, implementing new technologies, and ensuring the efficient operation of various metallurgical units. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of mineral processing circuits, and a proven ability to drive measurable improvements in a demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and optimize metallurgical processes, including crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, and refining.
- Conduct metallurgical test work to evaluate new process technologies and improve existing circuits.
- Monitor plant performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance recovery and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot operational problems and provide technical guidance to plant operators and supervisors.
- Develop and manage process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, process flow diagrams, and recommendations for capital expenditure.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral processing and metallurgy, with a strong focus on optimization.
- Extensive knowledge of various mineral processing unit operations and their interactions.
- Proficiency in metallurgical simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing process improvements leading to tangible results.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
