Metallurgist - Processing Operations

Our client is seeking a skilled Metallurgist to join their processing plant operations in Vereeniging. This role is vital for optimizing the recovery of valuable minerals from ore, ensuring efficient and effective processing operations. You will be involved in process monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize yield and minimize costs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mineral processing, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for optimizing plant performance within the Gauteng mining sector.

• Monitor and control metallurgical processes to ensure optimal performance and metal recovery.
• Conduct laboratory test work to evaluate ore characteristics and optimize reagent usage.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and implement corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency.
• Analyze process data and generate reports on plant performance, including recovery, grade, and costs.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement process improvements and new technologies.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the processing plant.

• Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Extractive Metallurgy.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a metallurgical processing role, preferably in gold, platinum, or base metals.
• Hands‑on experience with various mineral processing techniques (e.g., comminution, flotation, leaching, smelting).
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical chemistry and physical chemistry principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a plant environment.
