Senior Process Chemist - Chemical Manufacturing

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Chemist to join their manufacturing operations in Benoni . This role is vital for optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis processes to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. You will work closely with production teams, engineers, and R&D scientists to troubleshoot existing processes, develop new manufacturing methods, and improve yields and product quality.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, reaction kinetics, and process safety, coupled with hands-on experience in industrial chemical production. This position requires a blend of scientific expertise and practical application in a manufacturing setting.

• Optimize existing chemical manufacturing processes for improved efficiency, yield, and safety.
• Develop and scale-up new chemical synthesis routes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scale.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement necessary safety controls.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality.
• Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and process implementation.
• Train and mentor junior process chemists and operators on process operations and safety.

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process chemistry, scale-up, and chemical manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard assessment techniques.
• Proficiency in using process simulation software and data analysis tools.
