About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their industrial plant operations in Vereeniging . This role is critical for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all mechanical systems within the facility. You will be responsible for leading maintenance strategies, overseeing complex repair projects, and providing expert technical guidance on mechanical equipment, including rotating machinery, static equipment, and piping systems.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in industrial mechanical engineering and a proven ability to manage maintenance operations effectively. This is a key leadership position offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on plant performance and operational excellence.
- Develop and implement comprehensive mechanical maintenance strategies and programs to optimize plant uptime and minimize costs.
- Lead and manage the maintenance and repair of critical mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and heat exchangers.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee major repair projects, including scope definition, contractor management, and quality control.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental standards and procedures in all maintenance activities.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to the maintenance engineering team and technicians.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on industrial plant maintenance and operations.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, piping systems, and associated materials.
- Proficiency in CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) for maintenance planning and execution.
- Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance technologies and methodologies.
