Mechanical Engineer - Plant Maintenance

Our client is seeking a skilled and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to manage plant maintenance for their industrial facility in Benoni . This on-site role is essential for ensuring the reliable operation of all mechanical equipment and systems, minimizing downtime, and optimizing maintenance schedules. You will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance strategies, leading a team of technicians and artisans. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial machinery, rotating equipment, and maintenance best practices within the manufacturing or heavy industry sectors .

This is a critical position for maintaining operational excellence and safety standards in their Gauteng-based facility.

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all plant machinery.
• Oversee and direct maintenance teams in performing repairs, overhauls, and installations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary components.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in plant maintenance, preferably in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage technical teams effectively.
