Fiber Optic Network Designer

Our client is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Network Designer to join their team in Nelspruit. This role is responsible for the detailed design and planning of fiber optic networks, ensuring efficient and reliable deployment for telecommunications services. You will create comprehensive network designs, schematics, and documentation, collaborating closely with field teams and stakeholders to bring projects to fruition. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work remotely on design tasks while requiring periodic on-site presence in Nelspruit for collaboration and site assessments.

• Develop detailed network designs for fiber optic deployments, including OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) considerations.
• Create accurate network maps, splice diagrams, conduit plans, and equipment specifications using CAD and GIS software.
• Perform site surveys and feasibility studies to identify optimal routes and placement for fiber optic infrastructure.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, best practices, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with construction teams, project managers, and stakeholders to resolve design issues and ensure successful implementation.
• Maintain and update network design documentation as changes occur.

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic network design and planning.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, QGIS, or similar tools relevant to network mapping.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, components (cables, connectors, splices), and deployment methods.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices for OSP and ISP design.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate design documentation.
