Lead Transportation Engineer

Our client, a prominent civil engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Transportation Engineer to join their expanding team in Benoni, Gauteng. This senior position requires a seasoned professional to spearhead the planning, design, and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, intersections, and public transport systems. You will be responsible for managing project teams, ensuring technical excellence, and fostering strong client relationships.

This role is crucial for developing innovative transportation solutions that enhance mobility and connectivity within Benoni and the wider Gauteng area. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of traffic engineering principles, road design standards, and project management methodologies, aiming to shape the future of transportation in the region.

• Lead the conceptualization, planning, and design of transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, urban roads, and intersections.
• Manage project teams, assigning tasks, and overseeing the quality of work.
• Conduct traffic studies, demand forecasting, and network analysis.
• Develop detailed road design drawings, geometric design, and traffic control plans.
• Ensure adherence to relevant national and international transportation design standards and guidelines.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
• Mentor and develop junior transportation engineers and technicians.

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 9 years of professional experience in transportation engineering, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity.
• Proficiency in transportation planning and design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Synchro, VISSIM, or similar.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, road geometry, and highway design.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex transportation projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage client expectations and build lasting relationships.
• Experience working on projects within the Gauteng region is advantageous.
