Senior Civil Design Engineer

Our client, a reputable firm renowned for its innovative infrastructure solutions, is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer for their Benoni office. This role adopts a hybrid work model, offering a blend of remote flexibility and essential in-office collaboration. You will be instrumental in the design and development of diverse civil engineering projects, encompassing site development, roadworks, and utility infrastructure. The position requires a technically proficient engineer with a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and a commitment to producing high-quality, sustainable designs.

We are looking for a professional who can lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and effectively manage project tasks within a hybrid work structure.

• Lead the design of civil infrastructure projects, including site grading, drainage systems, roads, and utilities.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using CAD and design software.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies to inform design decisions.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other consultants to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information during construction.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior civil engineers and technicians.
• Manage design tasks and project schedules effectively, coordinating with project teams.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist in cost estimation for civil works.
• Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices within the team.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration with ECSA is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil design engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CAD software.
• Experience with hydrological and hydraulic modeling software is an asset.
• Strong understanding of site development principles, road design, and utility design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a hybrid team setting.
• Experience in managing project tasks and mentoring junior staff.
