Civil Design Engineer - Roads and Transport

Our client, a distinguished engineering consultancy with a strong presence in Gauteng, is actively seeking a talented Civil Design Engineer to join their Roads and Transport division in Vereeniging . This role is central to the design and development of a wide array of transportation infrastructure, including highways, rural roads, intersections, and public transport facilities. You will be responsible for translating project requirements into detailed design solutions, utilizing advanced engineering software and adhering to national design standards.

• Design and prepare detailed plans for road networks, including alignment, grading, drainage, and pavement design.
• Conduct traffic analysis and capacity assessments to inform design decisions.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation, and contract administration support.
• Utilize civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Infraworks) for design and modeling.
• Perform geometric design calculations and structural analysis for road infrastructure.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, traffic engineers, and environmental consultants.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS), provincial, and municipal regulations.
• Liaise with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits to gather data, assess existing conditions, and monitor construction progress.
• Contribute to the development of project proposals and fee estimates.

• Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of road and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Proven proficiency in relevant CAD and civil engineering design software.
• Strong understanding of South African road design standards, traffic engineering principles, and environmental considerations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and manage individual tasks efficiently.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality design deliverables.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required for project meetings and site visits.
