Senior Aviation Systems Integration Engineer

About the Role Our client, a forward-thinking entity in the aviation technology sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Aviation Systems Integration Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role, based in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA , is central to the successful integration of complex avionics, electrical, and mechanical systems onto aircraft platforms. You will play a critical part in ensuring seamless interoperability and optimal performance of integrated systems, from initial concept through to flight testing and certification.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of system architecture, interface management, and verification and validation methodologies within the aerospace domain. This position requires close collaboration with design engineers, software developers, and test personnel to deliver robust and reliable integrated solutions.

• Lead the integration of various aviation systems, including avionics, flight controls, power distribution, and communication systems.
• Define system architecture, interfaces, and requirements for integrated avionics and aircraft systems.
• Develop and execute detailed integration test plans and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system integration issues encountered during development, testing, and flight operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware and software integration.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and configuration management activities.
• Develop and maintain system integration documentation, including interface control documents (ICDs) and test reports.
• Support system verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with performance and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems integration processes and methodologies.

• A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in systems engineering or systems integration within the aerospace industry.
• Proven experience integrating complex avionics and aircraft systems (e.g., flight management systems, autopilots, communication radios).
• Strong understanding of system interfaces, protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, 1553, AFDX), and data bus technologies.
• Experience with system integration tools, simulation environments, and test equipment.
• Knowledge of aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA .
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
