Senior Transportation Engineer - Road Network Planning

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to join their growing team in Klerksdorp . This role is integral to the planning, design, and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects, focusing on road networks and traffic management systems within the North West province. You will lead key projects, provide expert technical input, and mentor junior engineers, contributing significantly to the region's mobility and development.

• Leading the development of transportation studies, including traffic impact assessments and network analyses.
• Designing road alignments, intersections, and interchange geometrics.
• Developing traffic signal timing plans and operational strategies.
• Preparing technical specifications, drawings, and tender documents for road construction projects.
• Conducting feasibility studies and cost estimations for transportation infrastructure.
• Collaborating with urban planners, architects, and other engineers on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Mentoring and guiding junior transportation engineers and technicians.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant South African road design standards and traffic regulations.
• Managing project schedules, budgets, and client relationships.
• Presenting project findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
• Identifying and implementing innovative solutions for traffic congestion and safety improvements.

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• Professional registration as a Pr.Eng. with ECSA.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering, including road design and traffic engineering.
• Proficiency in transportation planning and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PTV Vissim, SIDRA INTERSECTION).
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, geometric design, and traffic control devices.
• Experience with road design standards such as the South African Geometric Design Guide (RED BOOK).
• Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage projects and lead technical teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• A valid driver's license is required for site visits in and around Klerksdorp .
