Civil Design Engineer - Municipal Services

Our client, a well-established civil engineering consultancy, is seeking a diligent Civil Design Engineer to join their team based in Vereeniging, Gauteng . This role focuses on the design and planning of essential municipal services, including water reticulation, sewer networks, and stormwater drainage systems for various development projects. You will be responsible for translating project requirements into detailed engineering designs, ensuring functionality, compliance, and sustainability.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in municipal infrastructure design and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions that benefit communities. • Design and plan municipal services including water supply networks, wastewater reticulation systems, and stormwater drainage infrastructure.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and tender documents.
• Conduct site investigations and surveys to gather necessary data for design.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant municipal by-laws, SANS standards, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical support during the construction phase.
• Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates and participate in tender evaluations.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Identify design challenges and propose effective and practical solutions.
• Contribute to the development and updating of design standards and procedures.

• A Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the design of municipal services infrastructure.
• Proven experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software for creating engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of South African standards and regulations pertaining to water, sanitation, and stormwater design.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Experience in project coordination and site supervision is an advantage.
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines.
