Senior Facilities Engineer

Our client, a prominent entity in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to join their operations in Vereeniging, Gauteng . This critical role focuses on the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of oil and gas production facilities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. You will oversee a range of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and civil, to support the smooth functioning of onshore and offshore facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of facility life cycles, process systems, and project management principles. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a balance between on-site operational support and remote engineering analysis and design.

• Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, modification, and operation of oil and gas facilities.
• Oversee the development and implementation of facility engineering standards and procedures.
• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and external contractors involved in facility projects.
• Ensure facilities comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Conduct technical reviews of facility designs, modifications, and operational procedures.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure asset integrity and reliability.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions for facility systems.
• Prepare and manage facility-related budgets and capital expenditure plans.
• Support the commissioning and start-up of new facilities and equipment.
• Contribute to risk assessments and hazard identification for facility operations.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in facility engineering.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of onshore/offshore production facilities.
• Strong understanding of process safety, mechanical integrity, and maintenance management systems.
• Experience with project management, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical solutions.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and simulation tools.
• Experience in managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
