Structural Engineer - Industrial Facilities

Our client, a renowned engineering firm specializing in industrial infrastructure, is actively seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to contribute to significant projects in Klerksdorp, North West . This role is critical for the design and analysis of structural components for industrial plants, processing facilities, and heavy industrial structures. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and longevity of these structures under demanding operational conditions.

The position requires a hands‑on approach, including site assessments, detailed design work, and collaboration with project teams and construction personnel. We are looking for a technically adept engineer with a strong understanding of material behavior and relevant design codes. • Perform structural analysis and design for steel and concrete structures within industrial environments.
• Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for foundations, support structures, and equipment platforms.
• Ensure compliance with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and international design codes (e.g., AISC, ACI).
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for new industrial developments or modifications.
• Collaborate closely with process engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate structural designs into overall project plans.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and construction methods.
• Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams during the erection phase.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
• Identify and assess potential structural risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Contribute to value engineering and cost optimization efforts.

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering, with a structural specialization.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) is essential.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant post-graduate experience in structural engineering, with a significant portion focused on industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Etabs, SAP
  2000) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Strong knowledge of materials science, particularly steel and concrete behavior under various load conditions.
• Experience with seismic design principles and fatigue analysis is beneficial.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently manage tasks.
• Previous experience in or around Klerksdorp or the North West industrial landscape is advantageous.
