Senior Electrical Design and Controls Engineer

Our client, a prominent manufacturer of specialized industrial equipment, is seeking a highly competent Senior Electrical Design and Controls Engineer to join their team in Klerksdorp . This role is pivotal in the development of innovative electrical systems and sophisticated control solutions for their product lines. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of electrical design, from conceptualization and schematic development to testing, validation, and production support.

The position requires close collaboration with mechanical engineering, software development, and production teams to ensure integrated and high-performing solutions. • Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, and control panels for new and existing product lines.
• Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and other automation components.
• Perform detailed electrical calculations, including power requirements, load analysis, and component sizing.
• Specify electrical components and hardware, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within equipment chassis.
• Develop and execute test plans for electrical and control systems, validating performance and reliability.
• Provide technical support to the production team during assembly and testing phases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and control system issues encountered in the field or on the production line.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design drawings, BOMs, user manuals, and test reports.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and automation technologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Experience with electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Strong understanding of power electronics, motor control, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience in designing control systems for industrial machinery or automation equipment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently in Klerksdorp .
