Senior Structural Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

Our client, a highly respected engineering consultancy specializing in civil and structural infrastructure, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their established team in Klerksdorp, North West . This role is critical for the design and delivery of robust and innovative structural solutions for a range of infrastructure projects, including bridges, roads, water retaining structures, and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage project life cycles, and ensure the highest standards of engineering practice.

• Lead the structural design of infrastructure projects, including bridges, dams, retaining walls, and industrial buildings.
• Perform complex structural analysis and design calculations using advanced software.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and design reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and international codes.
• Manage project teams, including junior engineers and technicians, to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and resolve technical issues.
• Conduct site investigations and inspections to assess existing structures and monitor construction progress.
• Review and approve shop drawings and construction submittals.
• Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

• BEng or BSc in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration as a PrEng with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in designing and delivering major infrastructure schemes.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP
  2000, ETABS, Prokon, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• In-depth knowledge of material properties, construction methods, and relevant SANS codes.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Experience in geotechnical investigations and foundation design is an advantage.
