Senior Project Engineer - Civil Infrastructure

Our client, a prominent player in the civil engineering and construction sector, is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Engineer to manage and deliver complex civil infrastructure projects in Vereeniging, Gauteng
. This role is crucial for overseeing the technical aspects of project execution, from planning and design review to construction supervision and handover. The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest engineering standards. This position requires strong technical acumen, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to navigate the challenges of large-scale infrastructure development.

The role involves significant site presence, coupled with office-based responsibilities, offering a dynamic hybrid work environment.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water systems, and earthworks.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with engineering standards, quality specifications, and safety regulations.
• Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, providing technical guidance and solutions.
• Supervise site engineers, foremen, and contractors, fostering a collaborative and productive project team.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings, identifying and resolving technical issues.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure project objectives are met.
• Manage risk assessment and implement mitigation strategies for project challenges.
• Prepare project reports, documentation, and close-out procedures.

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr Eng) with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil engineering project management and execution.
• Proven experience with large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water reticulation, and bulk earthworks.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, construction techniques, and South African construction regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and project management tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing site supervision with office-based engineering tasks.
• Valid driver's license.
