Senior Game Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Game Designer to contribute to their exciting new titles based in Klerksdorp . In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing core gameplay mechanics, systems, and features that deliver engaging and memorable player experiences. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including artists, programmers, and producers, to bring innovative game concepts to life.

• Design and document core game mechanics, systems, player progression, and level layouts.
• Prototype and iterate on gameplay features, utilizing scripting or other relevant tools.
• Collaborate with engineers and artists to ensure effective implementation of game designs.
• Conduct play testing sessions, gather feedback, and refine designs based on player experience.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the overall design philosophy of the studio.

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in game design , with at least two shipped titles in a significant design role.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in systems design, level design, or narrative design.
• Proficiency with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and associated design tools.
• Excellent understanding of player psychology, game balance, and engagement loops.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex design concepts.
