Senior Risk Manager - Operational Risk

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Risk Manager specializing in Operational Risk to join their enterprise risk management team in Nelspruit . This critical role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks across the organization, ensuring business continuity and protecting against potential losses stemming from inadequate processes, systems, people, or external events. You will develop and implement robust risk frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and champion a strong risk culture throughout the business.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with extensive experience in operational risk management within the financial services sector.

• Develop and maintain the operational risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, scenario analyses, and control testing across various business units.
• Identify, assess, and monitor key operational risks and control deficiencies.
• Develop and implement mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks.
• Oversee the incident management process, including root cause analysis and lessons learned.
• Prepare comprehensive risk reports for senior management and relevant committees.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in operational risk management, preferably in banking or financial services.
• In-depth knowledge of operational risk frameworks (e.g., Basel II/III, COSO ERM) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
