About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and politically astute Public Affairs Advisor to join their team in Nelspruit. This role is pivotal in shaping and managing the company's engagement with government bodies, policymakers, and community stakeholders. You will be responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, developing advocacy strategies, and representing the company's interests effectively. This position requires a deep understanding of the political and regulatory landscape in Mpumalanga and South Africa, offering a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to influence public policy and corporate strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement public affairs strategies to support the company's objectives.
  • Monitor government policies, regulations, and legislative activities relevant to the organization.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry associations, and key stakeholders.
  • Advise senior management on public affairs issues and potential impacts.
  • Prepare briefing materials, position papers, and presentations for governmental engagements.
  • Manage corporate social responsibility initiatives and community outreach programs.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the legislative and regulatory environment in South Africa, particularly Mpumalanga.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful advocacy campaigns.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Political Science, Law, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field.
