IT Technician

IT Technician position available in Alberton.

A South African IT services business operating as a Managed Service Provider and licensed ISP, supporting a broad client base across a significant number of managed circuits. The business delivers end-to-end technology services including digitisation, optimisation, automation, maintenance and ongoing support for client environments spanning workstations, servers, networking infrastructure and connectivity.

This role is focused on owning the day-to-day health of both client and internal IT environments from end to end. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping systems running reliably, resolving faults efficiently, and maintaining consistent environments across a multi-client base. A strong proactive approach is expected, with emphasis on preventing issues before they affect clients rather than reacting after the fact.

Salary: R18 000 – R28 000 per month (Negotiable based on experience).

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years hands-on IT support experience, with 4 to 5 years preferred.
• Experience in an MSP or multi-client IT environment is strongly advantageous.
• Proficiency in Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016 to 2022 administration.
• Solid working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Competency in Microsoft 365 deployment, administration and support.
• Networking skills covering TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, firewall and switch configuration.
• Experience with backup solutions and endpoint security tools.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate ticket documentation consistently.
• Relevant certifications are advantageous, including CompTIA A+/N+, Microsoft MD-102, AZ-104 or equivalent server and networking certifications.
• Matric is essential; an IT qualification or diploma is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport are required as client site visits form part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Windows workstation and Windows Server operating systems.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services, and the full user account lifecycle.
• Deploy, patch and support Microsoft 365, business applications and line-of-business software.
• Manage backups, restores, and server performance, capacity and health monitoring.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, Wi-Fi infrastructure and VPNs.
• Administer and troubleshoot the full connectivity chain across LAN, WAN and ISP circuits through to resolution.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, IP addressing schemes and asset records.
• Monitor environments proactively and act on alerts before they escalateto outages.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance including updates, health checks, backup verification and security hardening.
• Log, prioritise and resolve support tickets within SLA, keeping clients informed throughout the process.
• Follow and contribute to improving documented procedures to ensure consistent, repeatable support delivery.
