IT Graduate

The IT Graduate Internship at South African Airways Technical (SAAT) offers graduates a valuable opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in IT support, systems administration, data reporting, and cybersecurity awareness. Based in Kempton Park, Gauteng, this role provides technical support under the guidance of IT administrators and the AMEP Project Manager, while contributing to the improvement of digital tools, MIS, and technology infrastructure.

Designed to build strong foundational skills, the internship equips graduates with practical exposure to troubleshooting, system management, compliance, and project support, preparing them for future careers in IT operations and technology management.

• Provide support to staff on hardware, software, and connectivity issues
• Set up and configure laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals for employees
• Assist with account creation, user access control, and permission changes
• Support routine system maintenance including updates, backups, and patching
• Monitor basic system performance and elevate potential issues to IT administrators
• Help maintain shared drives, collaboration tools, and internal platforms
• Assist with data extraction, cleaning, and basic analysis for reports
• Troubleshoot issues on internal systems or dashboards
• Conduct routine quality checks on data inputs and highlight inconsistencies
• Apply basic cybersecurity practices and ensure devices meet security standards
• Support IT audits and compliance checks including password controls and backups
• Educate staff on safe technology use and data protection policies
• Contribute to IT projects such as system rollouts, software implementations, or upgrades

• Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Prior internship or practical experience is advantageous but not required
• Basic knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and cloud-based systems
• Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Slack/Teams
• Understanding of operating systems including Windows and macOS
• Basic networking knowledge including Wi‑Fi, IP addressing, and routers
• Awareness of cybersecurity principles and good digital hygiene
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking
• Good communication skills and customer‑service orientation
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work well under pressure with competing deadlines
• Proactive, eager to learn, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment
