About the Role
Our client is looking for a vigilant and skilled Cybersecurity Analyst specializing in threat detection to join their security operations center in Nelspruit . You will play a critical role in protecting the organization's digital assets by monitoring security alerts, investigating potential threats, and implementing preventative measures. This position offers a chance to work with advanced security tools and technologies in a dedicated security team, contributing to the safeguarding of sensitive data and systems.
You will be part of a proactive security strategy, ensuring the resilience of our IT infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activities and potential breaches.
- Investigate security alerts, incidents, and anomalies to determine their nature, scope, and impact.
- Perform forensic analysis and root cause investigation of security incidents.
- Develop and refine threat detection rules, signatures, and correlation logic within security tools.
- Respond to security incidents by following established protocols and coordinating with relevant teams.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a cybersecurity role, with a focus on threat detection and incident response.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Log Rhythm) and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
- Strong understanding of network security principles, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack vectors.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
