Senior Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Security Engineer to enhance their cybersecurity posture. Based in Nelspruit , this role combines remote flexibility with essential in-office collaboration to safeguard our digital assets and infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security systems and policies, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents. This is a critical position for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information systems in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

• Design, implement, and manage security measures and controls for networks, applications, and data.
• Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate risks.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines across the organization.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, implementing containment and recovery strategies.
• Monitor security systems and logs for suspicious activities and potential threats.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on engineering and operations.
• Strong understanding of network security, application security, cryptography, and security best practices.
• Experience with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
