Application Security Specialist

Our client is seeking a proactive Application Security Specialist to join their technology team in Nelspruit. This role focuses on ensuring that applications are designed, developed, and deployed securely, minimizing vulnerabilities and protecting sensitive user data. You will work closely with development teams to integrate security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). • Perform security reviews and threat modeling for new and existing applications.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on web and mobile applications.
• Advise development teams on secure coding practices and remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain security testing tools and frameworks.
• Stay abreast of emerging application security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with Dev Ops teams to implement security into CI/CD pipelines.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in application security, secure software development, or penetration testing.
• Strong understanding of common web vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10) and their mitigation.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#) and experience with security testing tools.
• Knowledge of secure SDLC methodologies and threat modeling techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
